How to Help my Child

These printable resources are also available from the school's entrance hall.

The school teaches phonics using the systematic synthetics phonics scheme produced by Oxford University Press called Floppy's Phonics. Watch the video to hear how to pronounce the sounds taught in school to help your child read phonetically decodable words. Please also visit our reading page, which has more detail on the school's reading strategy.

Knowledge Organisers can be found in the curriculum section on this website.

The school has knowledge organisers for science, history and geography for Years 1-6. Knowledge organisers are not the whole curriculum in an area of study. Knowledge organisers are very useful as they bring together the essential knowledge and vocabulary we expect almost all pupils to be able to remember. Cross curricular topics may have one or a few knowledge organisers associated with them.

e-Safety

The school uses a variety of resources to support Homework and Remote Learning. Visit our e-Safety page for information on how to keep your child safe online.

REMOTE LEARNING

Remote Learning is the arrangements that the school will use in the event of it having to send pupils home due to outbreaks of infection. For pupils who need to work at home and those who are isolating, the school will do all that it can, within its resources, to ensure that they can learn successfully at home.

In determining the school’s approach to Remote Learning the Board of Governors consider the following principles paramount:

  • Any resource should be risk assessed and controls put in place to mitigate any risks;
  • Remote Learning should be flexible so as not to place undue pressure on families and children’s mental health;
  • Remote pedagogical approaches should be conducive to effective learning.

The full policy can be found below, together with further details of the contingency planning the school has made to support families.
