Artificial Intelligence (AI)

At our school we are always looking for ways to make learning engaging, safe and forward-looking. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now part of everyday life, and we believe it is important to use it wisely to support our pupils, staff and families.

Why we use AI

  • To support teaching and learning – AI can help teachers prepare resources, suggest ideas, and give pupils extra ways to practise and explore their learning.

  • To reduce staff workload – AI tools can help with some routine tasks, giving teachers more time to focus on pupils.

  • To prepare pupils for the future – as AI becomes more common in society, we want children to understand it, use it responsibly, and be ready for future jobs and opportunities.

How we keep children safe

  • Pupils will only ever use AI under staff supervision.

  • We use secure, school-approved AI tools only.

  • We never enter pupils’ personal information into AI systems.

  • Our filtering and monitoring systems block harmful or inappropriate content.

  • All use of AI is guided by our Safeguarding and Online Safety policies.

What pupils learn about AI

  • Pupils are taught to see AI as a tool to help learning, not a shortcut.

  • They learn about the risks of plagiarism (copying) and why their own effort is important.

  • They are encouraged to question and check AI outputs – not everything AI produces is accurate.

  • Through computing, PSHE and assemblies, children learn about responsible and ethical use of technology.

Our commitment to families

  • We will never share children’s data with open AI systems.

  • Parents will be kept informed through newsletters, workshops and website updates.

  • We welcome questions and encourage families to talk to us about AI and its role in education.

In short: AI helps us enhance learning and support staff, but it never replaces human judgement, care or decision-making. Children’s safety and wellbeing always come first.
